April Reader Updates
April in Idaho has brought all of the precipitation we should’ve gotten over the winter. As I write this, we’re going on 48 straight hours of rain. Good for my lawn, and even better for the weeds I’m constantly fighting. If you’ve got tips on getting rid of weeds—short of paving everything and painting it green—I’m all ears. A flamethrower, perhaps?
At least I don’t have to shovel rain.
Yard work isn’t my favorite pastime. It is both endless and thankless. Two months after you finish mowing, weeding, seeding, and watering, you have to do it again. And that is absurd.
I’ve taken the easier path, which is bribing my neighbors to be less diligent in their own lawn care to make my efforts less miserable by comparison.
That’s why it’s better to be a reader, and you are in luck. This month I’m bringing you a few dozen new stories. These will introduce you to new authors and series bound to keep you away from your outside chores until well into summer.

Book News
At long last, the paperback edition of Into The Fire is now available for purchase. You can grab your copy here.

Also, I’d love to know if you’re interested in signed, hardcover editions of my books. It’s always a risk introducing a new edition, so your feedback matters. If you can, hit reply and let me know if hardcover editions are interesting for you, or if ebooks, paperbacks, and audiobooks are your preferred version. To sweeten the deal, I’ll send the first 20 responders a free code for the audiobook of Wild Card, the second Mason Ashford story. (Don’t worry; you can read that one out of order.)
The Character that Most Surprised Me
There’s a reason I’m giving away Wild Card audiobooks. That’s the book that introduced me to Anna Okada, an orphaned thief that becomes a pivotal player in the events of the book. I loved writing Anna’s character, and putting her into situations that only she could get out of, even if that meant cutting and running when the opportunity presented. Anna is a survivor above all else. When the going gets tough, Anna looks out for Number 1—herself. Even though I enjoyed writing Anna, I didn’t know how readers would react to her. Then the comments came in. Lots of people wanted more Anna. They loved the attitude, scrappiness, and the skill she brought to the story. If you’re in that camp, don’t worry. The next book brings her off the sidelines and back into the action in the snarkiest way possible. Which brings me to…
Writing Updates
I’m about 1/3 of the way through the first draft of the fifth Mason Ashford book. (Okay, that last sentence felt like math. But I’m blown away to even write that sentence. FIVE books. And it’s all because of your support.) I can’t promise a publication date yet, but I’m working like mad to get it out to you before the end of the year. After book 5… I think I’m going to take a detour and write Beck’s first adventure. With the events of Into The Fire behind her, Mason’s sister needs to stretch her legs a bit. Wyoming is nice is the spring, don’t you think? Honestly, I’ll do anything to avoid pulling another weed.
One Last Request
If you’ve read and enjoyed my work, please leave a rating and a review on Amazon.com. Ratings and reviews are the lifeblood of independent authors like me. They help others find my work, and that attention is hard to come by in today’s distraction-filled world. And if you’ve already left a review: Thank You. Please tell your friends. 😉
That’s it for this month. Go read some free stories and leave reviews if you like what you’ve read. And whatever you do, avoid lawn care as long as you can. It’s a trap!
